PANAREA:
THE TINIEST OF
THE AEOLIAN ISLANDS
Panarea is one of the top yachting destinations of the Aeolian Archipelago and also the most exclusive one, attracting flocks of celebrities every year. Yet, it is also a peaceful destination, affording hours of pure relaxation.
Panarea is the smallest of the Aeolian Islands (Alicudi, Filicudi, Lipari, Salina, Stromboli, and Vulcano). It is known for the busy nightlife of the San Pietro marina (that is also the point of departure of the panoramic trail leading to the island’s summits) and magnificent clear waters – popular with snorkelers and divers – dotted with rock formations that formed in the course of volcanic eruptions, boulders, and coral reefs teeming with interesting marine life. The best spots to explore Panarea’s deep sea are Scoglio Spinazzola, Peschiera Sommersa, Scoglio di Pietra Nave, the shipwreck of Lisca Bianca (Relitto di Lisca Bianca), and the group of slabs called Le Formiche di Panarea, the ants of Panarea.
The Aeolian Islands on a charter: Panarea’s best beaches
Panarea has plenty of beaches, providing the perfect spots to indulge in invigorating sunbaths on the deck of your charter with every amenity, before clinking glasses at sunset. Cala Junco is a natural pool encircled by unique rock formations, while Spiaggia di Calcara sits at the mouth of an inactive volcano, featuring light fumarole that work wonders for the lungs. The warm terrain, lending a shimmer to the soil, and enchanting view of the archipelago are reason enough to stop here for an energetic swim. Cala Zimmari is Panarea’s only sandy beach, also known as the “red beach” for its characteristic hue.
The Aeolian archipelago is a small gem set in the clear waters of the Mediterranean, an unforgettable stop of a luxury charter cruise in Sicily.
