The eternally glamorous Saint-Tropez is the setting for a breathtaking annual rendezvous of yachts. Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez has been delighting spectators and participants with a stunning array of sailing boats for the last 27 years. Organised by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, this year’s edition has already started and runs from Monday 26th September to Sunday 2nd October. The participating vessels include a combination of classic and modern luxury yachts for charter.

A Thrilling Week of Sailing

The exciting week-long event draws a host of international racers and sailing enthusiasts who compete in the gulf of Saint-Tropez. Training begins at the weekend of 24th September but the real action begins on Monday when the regatta begins for the modern yachts and Tuesday for the classic boats. The contemporary sailing yachts will take part in five days of competition, whereas the vintage yachts will enjoy four days of thrilling races. The yachts are doing battle for the coveted Rolex Trophy, which has traditionally been awarded to the yacht with the best overall result. This year, it will be awarded to the winner of the ‘Grands Tradition’ class. The prize-giving takes place on Sunday, 2nd October at 11:00a.m.

Something for Everyone

Every year, around 300 yachts from all corners of the globe gather in the bay, their majestic silhouettes lining the shimmering waters of the Mediterranean. The regatta consistently offers some new features and surprises for visitors in accordance with their varying personal tastes and aspirations, and this year is no different.

Among the competitors at the event, sixteen iconic Wally yachts will compete in a thrilling display of maritime performance and aesthetics. The brand represents some of the finest modern crafts to be produced. The Wally yachts are renowned for their minimalist design, sleek lines and comfort and will certainly attract attention in St Tropez. The Wally Magic Carpet 3’s 30.5m size and spacious interiors belie her high-performance credentials.

The visual spectacle will be enhanced by some ‘offshore racing monsters’ such as Mike Slade’s Leopard 3, the Maxi Sojana and a host of TP 52s and VOR 70s. The popular classic racers Cambria, Puritan and the American schooner Elena will also return to the regatta. A combination of beautiful scenery and exceptional yachts mean that Les Voiles is the location of some of the finest sailing photography in the world.

Outstanding Entertainment Facilities

Spectators always enjoy the outstanding regatta as much as the participants since there are a variety of social events that take place on shore. The race village has recently been re-designed and stretches 70 metres down and 10 metres across one of the town’s streets. It features a 20-metre long bar, with an outdoor terrace and daily entertainment, as well as a very popular Kappa boutique and a competitors’ area.
