This summer, why not indulge in a crewed yacht charter? Greece and its islands never fail to delight, and the most relaxing way to discover them is by private yacht, with a friendly crew to see to all your needs. Wherever you go, you’re guaranteed to find breathtaking landscapes and beaches, charming villages and fascinating ancient sites.

Taking a crewed yacht charter? Greece has so much to discover

If Athens is the starting point of your private yacht charter, Greece’s capital is not only teeming with historic sites, it also offers a day of cruising around the Saronic Gulf and its charming islands.

The Saronic Gulf: Athens’ hidden secret

A best-kept-secret Greece yacht charter destination, the islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra are worlds away from the bustle of Athens. Laidback Aegina is home to the well-preserved Temple of Aphaia, while in Poros, visit the Sanctuary of Poseidon, god of the sea. Hydra, once a meeting place for writers and artists, has picturesque windmills and narrow streets where donkeys are still a viable mode of transport.

The Sporades: Secluded and unspoilt

The Sporades archipelago gained fame as the filming location for Mamma Mia!, but it remains largely unspoilt. Skiathos is easily the best-known with a lively nightlife around Skiathos Town, but still enjoys secluded coves and quiet bays.

In Skopelos you’ll find rolling hills, pretty villages and ancient monasteries, while Alonnisos is one for nature-lovers, with distinctive local plants and animals. Some twenty miles away lies Skyros – with coves best accessed by private yacht charter, Greece’s ‘windy island’ remains unspoilt and secluded.

The Cyclades: Glamour and fun

For glamour and fun, the clubbing hotspot of Mykonos is best-known for its lively party beaches of Paradise and Super Paradise, as well as its trendy boutiques, art galleries and restaurants.

The volcanic island of Santorini enjoys arguably the best sunsets, as well as luxury shopping and fine dining. Its quieter neighbour Folegandros shares its dramatic volcanic landscape, while boasting cliff top villages, sunset views and winding donkey paths.

Ideal for visiting by crewed yacht charter, Greece’s Delos is an uninhabited UNESCO Heritage Site and birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, packed with archaeological treasures. Head to Kea for fantastic snorkelling and diving, including the wreck of the HMHS Britannic, Titanic’s twin ocean liner.

The Ionian Islands: Natural beauty

The pearl of the Ionian Sea, Corfu is renowned for its natural beauty, quiet coves and its famous Paleokastritsa beach, packed with local taverns. The dreamy island of Meganisi is often left off a Greece yacht charter itinerary, but with idyllic bays, verdant greenery and beaches only accessible by yacht, it’s a must-visit.

The Dodecanese: Old-world charm

Sandy beaches and an exciting nightlife make Kos hugely popular, but with its pretty whitewashed houses and archaeological sites, it still radiates old-world charm.

The rocky island of Leros is best-known for sponge fishing, but it also has picturesque coves and hidden grottos. At Patmos, discover the imposing Greek Orthodox monastery of St John the Divine, and three windmills dating from the 1400s.

For freedom, relaxation and luxury, what could be better than a crewed yacht charter? Greece has so much to offer that you’ll be tempted to come back year after year…
