10 Highlights of the Monaco Yacht Show 2017
For another year, the Monaco Yacht Show has drawn to a close and so too has the summer yachting season; few Monaco yacht charters will be visiting Port Hercules from now until next year, which offers the perfect opportunity to reflect. A cacophony of yacht horns sounded to signify the end of Europe’s largest yacht show for another year. Silver Star Yachting was in attendance at the event; we took the opportunity to meet with clients, friends, partners and other yachting professionals. Here, we summarise 10 of our highlights of the Monaco Yacht Show 2017.
1. M/Y JUBILEE
Recently launched, M/Y JUBILEE was the largest superyacht to ever feature at the Monaco Yacht Show. She dazzled visitors with her unique exterior design and scooped two awards at the Monaco Yacht Show Awards ceremony.
2. The AM37 Tenders
The AM37 is Aston Martin’s latest attempt at delving into the world of yachting, and the spectacular tender does not disappoint. VIP guests were welcomed aboard the AM37 throughout the event.
3. The Spectacular Views
One of the central attractions was the very spectacle that the show created. An international yachting hub, Monaco is the perfect destination for one of the world’s greatest yacht shows.
4. This Mercedes 300SL
While stunning superyachts were the main order of the day, the Monaco Yacht Show does cater for those with alternative interests. In 2017, automotive fans were kept entertained by the dazzling Car Deck, which displayed a collection of luxury supercars. This Mercedes 300SL stole the show, with its classic aesthetic and unparalleled sense of style.
5. Whiskey Tasting on M/Y LEGEND
The Monaco Yacht Show is all about the luxury lifestyle. Guests on M/Y LEGEND – the 77.4m explorer superyacht – were treated to a staple of indulgence: valuable whiskey. Guests were able to sample some exceptionally rare whiskeys, as well as the local Monaco Blend.
6. The Opportunity to Meet Yacht Captains
Yacht Owners and Charterers were treated to the opportunity of meeting some of the yachts’ Captains. Yacht Captains can provide insight into the attraction of each vessel, which is extremely valuable.
7. The Chance to Attend Exclusive Parties
For many, the main highlight of the Monaco Yacht Show is always the opportunity to network and socialise with like-minded people in exclusive settings. Various parties are held on yachts, at the Monaco Yacht Club, and at various chic venues around the Principality.
8. The Unparalleled Display of Luxury
The Principality of Monaco is itself renowned for its affinity with luxurious commodities. From superyachts to supercars, helicopters and fine jewellery, all manner of fineries were on show to guests. This Bell Helicopter was located near the main entrance and set the tone for high-brow attractions at the Monaco Yacht Show 2017.
9. Riza Tansu Speaking Publicly
Various talks, workshops and events are hosted throughout the Monaco Yacht Show, allowing professionals the opportunity to benefit from the information of the industry’s big players. There are also less formal occassions in which important industry professionals impart knowledge, such as this speech from Riza Tansu on-board M/Y SO’MAR.
10. The Chance to Sample the Latest Products
Various products and services are launched at the Monaco Yacht Show, providing them with an industry-wide springboard. CanO Water – an innovative, resealable can of water – aims to reduce plastic waste and featured at this year’s show.
